The Benefits of Enhancing Your Smile with Prosthodontics

A beautiful smile is more than just aesthetics. A beautiful smile should also help you function and feel good every day. Whether you’re replacing missing teeth or improving the look of worn or damaged ones, prosthodontic treatment is designed to restore the full picture—health, comfort, and confidence.

Here’s how enhancing your smile with prosthodontics can improve your quality of life:

  • Better Chewing and Digestion: Replacing missing teeth restores your ability to eat comfortably and enjoy a full, balanced diet.
  • Improved Speech: Missing or misaligned teeth can affect how you speak—prosthodontic treatment brings clarity and ease back to everyday conversations.
  • Long-Term Stability: Custom restorations like crowns, bridges, and implant-supported prosthetics are built to last, preserving jaw health and function.
  • Natural-Looking Aesthetics: Every tooth is designed with attention to color, shape, and proportion for a seamless, attractive result.
  • Boosted Confidence: A complete, well-balanced smile allows you to express yourself without hesitation.
  • Facial Support and Balance: Restorations help prevent sunken features and maintain youthful facial contours by supporting your lips and cheeks.

Whether you’re looking to restore what’s been lost or refine what you already have, prosthodontics offers a thoughtful, comprehensive approach to creating a smile that truly supports your life.

Our Prosthodontic Services

Whether you require replacements for missing teeth, protection for damaged teeth, or support for jaw issues, we offer a range of advanced prosthodontic services to help you achieve a healthy, functional, and natural-looking smile.

We offer comprehensive prosthodontic services to patients in and around the Brentwood area. These services include:

Dental veneers are thin, tooth-colored shells that cover up imperfections on your teeth. They look like your natural teeth, and can be used to restore or enhance one tooth or many teeth.

A dental crown is a tooth-shaped cap that covers a broken tooth to strengthen it. They can be used after root canal therapy or for cosmetic issues such as discoloration or chips.

A dental bridge replaces one or more missing teeth in a row. They use a crown on either side of the missing tooth to support a fake tooth. This prevents teeth from shifting and restores functionality and cosmetics.

Dentures are a convenient option for patients with many missing or broken teeth. We can create traditional dentures or dentures that attach to implants for added security and oral health. Partial dentures also work if you only need to replace one area of your arch.

These services use the same material as crowns to create a partial crown that replaces the top or side of your tooth without capping the entire tooth. These can be used after a severe cavity or chip.

This premier service replaces a tooth and tooth root, creating a stable and comfortable restoration. The dental implant fuses with your jaw, and a replacement tooth is placed atop it.

Dental implants don’t necessarily mean you need to wait months for a new smile. Teeth in a Day allows Dr. McLaughlin to place implants and give you a new denture over them on the same day, effectively giving you an entirely new smile in one day.

If you are suffering from TMJ pain or sleep apnea, we can craft a mouthguard or oral appliance. These removable appliances are worn at night to protect your teeth or open your airways.

If you want to restore the look and appearance of your teeth, we can help with prosthodontic services in our comfortable office.

Why Choose a Prosthodontist for Your Tooth Replacement?

Replacing missing teeth requires more than a simple dental visit. It requires a deep understanding of how your teeth, jaw, bite, and facial structure all work together. That’s where a prosthodontist makes all the difference.

Prosthodontists are dental specialists with advanced training in restoring and replacing teeth. After completing dental school, prosthodontists undergo several additional years of focused education in full-mouth rehabilitation, implant-supported restorations, and aesthetic dentistry. This makes them uniquely qualified to take on complex cases and deliver highly customized, long-lasting results.

At Middle Tennessee Prosthodontics, our team includes the only board-certified prosthodontists in the greater Nashville area. We don’t just restore smiles—we fine-tune every aspect of your bite, alignment, and appearance to ensure comfort, confidence, and function for years to come.  Every treatment plan from Dr. McLaughlin is personalized to align with your facial structure, bite, and long-term oral health.

The Only Prosthodontists in Middle Tennessee

Having a tooth replaced should be entrusted to a specialist, but that doesn’t mean you should be traveling long distances to get one. We are conveniently located in Brentwood, near Nashville, Tennessee. Our office is one of the only prosthodontic offices in the area. Plus, we’re the only board-certified prosthodontists within 400 miles of the Nashville area! We take serving the area seriously.

Our team works together like a beehive to create a new tooth or new smile for you. We focus on quality and collaboration with each other and our patients. This creates a smooth process that gives you lasting, functional, and beautiful results.

Our Tooth Replacement Technology

Our dental technology makes it easier for you to get the smile you want and deserve. It can help with the simplest of things or be an essential part of big procedures such as implant placement.

Some of our amazing tech includes:

  • Telescopic Dental Restorations: Snap-on or removable dentures need telescopic restorations that can comfortably rest over your implant.
  • Dental Sedation: If you need a longer treatment or have dental anxiety, our dental sedation options can help you relax and even enjoy your dental work.
  • Various Crown Materials: We have a variety of crown materials, namely zirconia, porcelain fused to metal, e.max press, and gold. We can pick the material based on the location of the crown and other needs.
  • In-Office Mill: We can make crowns in a single day with e.max press and our in-office mill. No need for temporaries or several appointments for a crown.

E.max Restorations

E.max press is a specialized ceramic material that can be used to make crowns in-office. It is a slightly translucent material, so it matches your natural teeth. Crowns made of e.max press are also very durable, lasting at least 10–15 years if cared for properly.

When you come in for a crown, make sure to ask us about our e.max press and if it works for your smile today.

FAQs About Prosthodontics

Dental restorations such as crowns, bridges, veneers, and implant-supported teeth should be cared for much like your natural teeth. We recommend brushing twice a day with a soft-bristled toothbrush, flossing daily, and using any tools we may suggest for hard-to-reach areas. Routine checkups and cleanings are also key. With proper care, your restorations can last for many years while maintaining both their function and appearance.

Many of our crowns can be crafted and placed in just one visit thanks to our in-office milling technology. We use e.max press ceramic, a strong and natural-looking material, to create a crown that fits precisely and blends seamlessly with your existing smile. In more complex cases or for certain materials, multiple visits may be needed, but we’ll always let you know what to expect.

Not usually. While prosthodontists are specialists with advanced training, many of our services are similarly priced to what you’d find at a general dentist’s office, especially when you consider the quality, customization, and long-term value of the care. We also work with many insurance companies, and we will file claims on your behalf.

If you’re missing one or more teeth or have teeth that are severely damaged or failing, you may be a candidate for dental implants. Implants restore both the root and the visible part of the tooth, offering greater stability and long-term health benefits than many other options. During your consultation, we’ll evaluate your oral health, bone structure, and goals to help you determine whether an implant is right for you.
